DAY CHARTER AROUND
KOH SAMUI AND KOH PHA NGAN

KAISSO KAIA…

...is a beautiful 63 ft, traditional wooden ketch called a Pinisi, built of teak, ironwood and bangkirai in Pulau Bonerate, southern Sulawesi, Indonesia in 1999 by the Konjo boat builders and has been thoroughly renovated in 2006 in the island of Phuket, Thailand. She is set with every comfort and equipment to make your day on-board safe and comfortable. Whether you are looking for adventure or peace, we will take you to the most exotic, deserted and magical beaches, for an unforgettable experience at sea…

A LITTLE HISTORY

Considered for their maritime culture, and their ships (the Pinisis) with which they reigned on the seas for centuries, Bugis from southern Sulawesi have one of the last fleets of sailing ships in the world, which enables them to transport goods and to practise fishing between the islands as in the past. The ships of the Bugis sailed to the Australian coast, where they left drawings of their boats in the stone and words which were integrated into the language of the aboriginals of Australia. Located at the crossroads of very animated sea routes, Southern Sulawesi and its capital, the large port of Ujung Pandang, remain today the entrance point of Eastern Indonesia. The Spanish and Portuguese galleons, followed by the British and Dutch tradesmen, sailed in these seas in the search of spices under the escort of their soldiers to protect themself from the attacks carried by intrepid Bugis and their frightening Pinisis.
